I started reading your posts out-of-order, so I mistakenly assumed that the heavy rain that caused the flood was just a day or two, like a flash flood. But to have heavy rain for almost a month is almost unfathomable! Thanks for sharing this story--I'd never heard of the 1937 Flood until stumbling across your Substack.

Once I opened your pinned intro post, it was really easy to go in chronological order by just hitting the “Next” button at the bottom of each post. I just have a bad habit of reading posts based on the title, so it took me a little longer to get to that introduction than it should have!
And I came in with my own assumptions of what causes floods, so it took this discussion about barometric pressure for me to get a lightbulb moment about how intense the weather pattern was. Can’t wait to learn more!
